A Game of Thrones

Jag har försökt hitta en kort sammanfattning om vad boken handlar om, men det tycks endast finnas väldigt långa sammanfattningar.
Boken handlar om Westeros på någon slags medeltid. Man får följa en massa olika personer och deras öden. Som namnet kanske antyder tillhör de de noblare kretsarna.
Jag gillade särskilt slutet, men vad det handlade om kan jag ju inte skriva här.

When God Was a Rabbit

Spanning four decades, from 1968 onwards, this is the story of a fabulous but flawed family and the slew of ordinary and extraordinary incidents that shape their everyday lives. It is a story about childhood and growing up, loss of innocence, eccentricity, familial ties and friendships, love and life. Stripped down to its bare bones, it's about the unbreakable bond between a brother and sister. The book is named after God, a pet rabbit given to Elly by her brother who is a constant companion during her childhood.

The Distant Hours

It starts with a letter, lost for half a century and unexpectedly delivered to Edie’s mother on a Sunday afternoon. The letter leads Edie to Milderhurst Castle, where the eccentric Blythe spinsters live and where, she discovers, her mother was billeted during World War II. The elder Blythe sisters are twins and have spent most of their lives caring for their younger sister, Juniper, who hasn’t been the same since her fiancé jilted her in 1941. Inside the decaying castle, Edie searches for her mother’s past but soon learns there are other secrets hidden in its walls. The truth of what happened in “the distant hours” has been waiting a long time for someone to find it.

Den var väldigt trög i starten. Det tog väl 150 sidor innan jag kom in i boken, men sen var den väldigt bra och spännande.

Mitt positiva liv

Alcazar-Andreas, eller HIV-Andreas, som han blev sen, berättar om hur det var att få HIV och leva med det som en hemlighet i ett helt decennium innan han vågade gå ut och berätta. En hemlighet som han kunde bevara tacke var några otroligt tursamma situationer, till exempel i Australiens tull, och som ledde till ett kokainmissbruk.

Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?

In 1985 Jeanette Winterson's first novel, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, was published. It was Jeanette's version of the story of a terraced house in Accrington, an adopted child, and the thwarted giantess Mrs Winterson. It was a cover story, a painful past written over and repainted. It was a story of survival.

This book is that story's the silent twin. It is full of hurt and humour and a fierce love of life. It is about the pursuit of happiness, about lessons in love, the search for a mother and a journey into madness and out again. It is generous, honest and true.
Enligt Amazon är boken i genren Lesbiska biografier. Jag tycker nog att Jeanettes förfärliga uppväxt är mer utmärkande än hennes lesbiskhet. Fast det är klart, titeln är vad hennes adoptivmamma sa när hon höll fast vid att hon älskade kvinnor.

Får toppbetyg av mig. 870 sidor kändes väldigt långt när det var som mest spännande, men sen tog boken slut för fort.
